Child Empowerment and Support Organisation Uganda (CHESO Uganda) is a Christ-centered non-profit organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable children and youth to transform their communities for Christ.
Located in Lwengo District, Uganda, we work to restore hope and create opportunities through education, healthcare, mentorship, and spiritual growth. Guided by Biblical values, we believe that every child deserves a chance to learn, grow, and live with dignity.
At CHESO, we focus on holistic transformation — nurturing the mind, body, and spirit — so that every young person can rise above challenges, realize their potential, and become a light in their community.
Born in a very humble peasant family and orphaned at 8years, Edson’s hope for a future surfaced when he was registered in a Compassion International assisted project at a local church. He holds a Bachelor of Public Administration and Management from Uganda Christian University, Mukono and a Masters in Business Administration with focus on Organizational Leadership from Cairn University, Pennsylvania-USA. He has a certificate in Servant Leadership obtained from Compassion’s Leadership Development Program and various trainings in child and youth ministry. Edson served as a project Director with Compassion International for five before starting Cheso Uganda and mobilizing other people with passion for serving children, youth and community transformation to join him in furthering the vision of Cheso Uganda.
He is a professional teacher and a senior pastor at Kyamatafali Baptist Church. He was orphaned at 14years and was picked up and registered in a Compassion International assisted project at Lwekishugi Baptist Church where his hope for the future started from. With support from a sponsor Karisti was able to attain his education and this sponsorship changed all his life. He has served as a Centre guide for over 20years and as the Chairperson of the Church Partnership Committee that links Compassion International with the local church for over 12years. He picked interest and grew the passion to serve children and youth from a compassion project where he was introduced to the gospel of Christ and was served to become who he is today. He shares the kindness and generosity of his sponsor with other vulnerable children in the community. He is one of the most educated and successful raised from poverty through Lwekishugi CDC.
